La traviata. The Solitude of a star
La traviata is one of the most beloved and frequently performed operas in the world, although its debut was a “resounding failure.” However, as its composer remarked, time rendered its verdict, and it became a perennial and worldwide success. Through the story of Violetta Valery, a character both real and literary, Verdi challenged many conventions, the moralism, and the hypocritical values of the time, transforming a figure marginalized by society into a solitary heroine.
